Jump into fun with City of Irvine after school programming. Offered at six community center sites throughout Irvine, our programs provide a safe, affordable option for children who need after school care.

Pre-K Pals | Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-K Pals is the perfect extension to the Pre-Kindergarten day schedule. This recreation-based program offers flexible registration, transportation from select schools, up to four days of participation per week, and age-appropriate activities within the safety of our community centers. Children must be enrolled in the morning session of classes and also toilet-trained. 

All Pre-K Pals are welcomed and can be dropped off at your local, participating community center. Please contact a participating site for enrollment information and activity calendars.

Pre-K Pals is open from school dismissal to 2:30 p.m. 

Drop-off participants can arrive beginning at 11:30 a.m. 

Families can continue their child’s care through Kids Club, which begins at 2:30 p.m. at the same community center location.

Kindy Cove | Kindergarten

Kindergartners can enjoy social-recreational fun during Kindy Cove, including crafts, games, outdoor play, and so much more in a safe and supervised environment. Registration is flexible and transportation is available from select schools. 

All Kindy Cove participants are welcomed and can be dropped off at a participating center. For additional care hours, Kindy Cove participants can be enrolled in Kids Club for an additional daily fee. Please contact a participating site for enrollment information and activity calendars.

Kids Club, operated by City of Irvine staff, offers a dynamic space where children in pre-kindergarten–sixth grade can play, create, and connect through fun activities and experiences.

Kids Club is open from school dismissal to 5:30 p.m. 

Drop-off participants can arrive beginning at 2 p.m.

The Hub | 4th–6th Grade After School Program

The Hub is a new after-school program offered at Heritage Park Community Center designed specifically for 4th–6th graders looking for a fun, educational and social place to come together after school.

Pre-K Pals, Kindy Cove & Kids Club Program Info

Children must be enrolled in pre-kindergarten–sixth grade at a participating Irvine Unified School District elementary school to register for Pre-K Pals, Kindy Cove and/or Kids Club.

Transportation is only provided to children attending the listed Irvine Unified School District elementary school sites.  

Drop-off is available to all children enrolled in kindergarten–sixth grade. 

Transportation to the community center is available for participants attending participating IUSD school sites. 

Same day cancelations can be made before 10 a.m. for Pre-K Pals, Kindy Cove, and Kids Club.

The City of Irvine has scholarship funding available that may be used for recreational activities offered through the Community Services Department including Pre-K Pals, Kindy Cove, Kids Club, and seasonal camps.
