The City of Irvine is in the process of drafting a Residential Beekeeping Ordnance. The purpose of the ordinance is to permit beekeeping as an accessory use in single-family residential properties.

The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to announce its first exhibitions of the new year: Mirror and Terrain. The exhibitions run concurrently Saturday, January 29–Saturday, April 16. A free opening reception with the artists is Saturday, January 29, 2–4 p.m., and is open to the public.
California Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) was enacted to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the release of methane emissions from organic materials decomposing in landfills, as well as to increase statewide edible food recovery efforts beginning January 1, 2022. California landfills remain the third-largest source of methane emissions in the state, contributing to twenty percent of the state’s total methane emissions. Organic waste makes up half of Californians' total waste in landfills.

A new state requirement is calling on all residential and business customers to subscribe to an organic waste collection service. This program is not a compost mandate, but is a new service that will be provided by Waste Management.

In an effort to ease odor reports throughout the City, an Odor Complain Form has been added to the City website and the City app, Access Irvine.
