Find New Frontiers 

From rolling amber hills to majestic purple sunsets, you can find new frontiers — right in your own backyard. Presented by Hoag, the City of Irvine Park & Recreation Field Guide serves as your map to explore Irvine’s awardwinning parks, facilities, and libraries. 

From winding trails and neighborhood parks to art galleries, community centers, and family-friendly attractions, every destination offers something new to discover under beautiful, spacious skies.

Complete Challenges. Collect stamps. Earn prizes. 

Visit one of the participating park, library, or community center locations and complete the activity challenge to earn a stamp for your City of Irvine Park & Recreation Field Guide. There are also special challenges to help you earn stamps. 

Complete at least one activity to earn a stamp from each location. Please visit the community center staff attendant to receive your stamp. 

  • Start your adventure at one of our three Irvine Public Library Branches and pick up your City of Irvine Park & Recreation Field Guide.
  • Collect six stamps and earn a prize.
  • Collect 12 stamps and receive an exclusive 2026 Park & Recreation Month America 250 collectible enamel pin.
  • Prizes can be picked up at the Irvine City Hall front desk, while supplies last.

The fun begins July 1!

Challenge Locations

Cypress Community Park

Blaze a new path by walking or biking Jeffrey Open Space Trail. 

Deerfield Community Park

Aim for the outpost when you play the Deerfield Disc Golf Course. 

Great Park

Ride the range on the Great Park Carousel.

Heritage Community Park

Cool off at the splash pad.

Northwood Community Park

Scout the lookout when your explore Irvine's iconic castle-themed park.

Portola Springs Community Park

Pack the wagon and bring a picnic to enjoy outdoors.

Quail Hill Community Park

Find the highest point on the Quail Hill Trail Loop and take in the view.

Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park

Explore the playland by enjoying different elements including climbing areas, slides, swings and more at the all-abilities playground.

Turtle Rock Community Park

Chart your course by sketching a simple map through the park or Turtle Rock Nature Center.

University Community Park

Reach the watchpoint at Adventure Playground by finding 
the highest platform or lookout or, 
Be a cloud scout by lying on the grass and identifying 
shapes in the clouds.

Woodbury Community Park

Find five different kinds of leaves, flowers, or trees.
