One Irvine Workforce Youth Service Corps Adult Apprenticeship Program

The California Volunteers Youth Service Corps — One Irvine Workforce Adult Apprenticeship Program is designed to employ and empower the next generation of public servants by providing paid career opportunities for apprentices to gain valuable experience supporting some of Irvine's most important initiatives. In addition to gainful employment, apprentices will develop job and life skills, participate in innovative training related to work-readiness, personal development, and mentorship, all while contributing to their community.

This program is part of the California Volunteers Youth Services Corps grant and prioritizes hiring applicants who may not have access to traditional career-building resources.

Priority is given to applicants who:

  • Are Irvine residents.
  • Are unemployed and/or out of school.
  • Are low-income.
  • May have difficulty finding employment.
  • Are first-generation students planning to go to college.
  • Are in or transitioning from foster care.
  • Are or were engaged with a substance-abuse or mental health program.
  • Are or were justice-involved.
  • Have not participated in an AmeriCorps program.
  • Are experiencing or have experienced housing instability.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 on their first day of service.

Applications will be accepted August 14–September 1.

One Irvine Workforce Youth Service Corps Summer High School Program

The One Irvine Workforce Youth Service Corps Summer High School Program is looking for the next generation of youth to shape and serve the Irvine community. Motivated and customer-focused high school students of all backgrounds will serve as Community Services Leaders and assist with summer camps, recreation and arts programs, special events, and facility/field prep at various community parks and facilities. In addition to valuable on-the-job training, participants will benefit from exciting mentorship and skill development opportunities such as:

  • Job search, interviewing, and career-readiness
  • Leadership and customer service  
  • Goal-setting and organization
  • Business communication and etiquette
  • Financial literacy, money management, and more!

Community Services Leaders work an average of 20 hours per week. Schedules are flexible, with shifts available 7 a.m.–10 p.m., weekdays and weekends.
