IRVINE, CA (November 6, 2015): “Finding Peace Amid Holiday Chaos” will be the discussion presented by keynote speaker Tanya Brown at the 34^th Annual Irvine Community Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast, to be held November 19 at the Irvine Marriot Hotel. Tickets for the 7:30 a.m. breakfast, presented by the City of Irvine, the Irvine Chamber of Commerce and the National Exchange Club, are $45; proceeds benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Center.

IRVINE, CA (Nov. 6, 2015): Scholastic chess players will have the opportunity to put their skills to the test at the 40^th Annual Staser Fall Scholastic Chess Tournament, presented by the Orange County Great Park in collaboration with Hanley Chess Academy and American Chess Equipment. Registration closes Nov. 12 for the event, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Hangar 244 and the Artists Studios at the Great Park.

In observance of Veterans Day, a number of City of Irvine facilities will be closed Friday, November 10.

Veterans Day is a time to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and commitment to serve and sacrifice for the common good. In honor of our veterans and in support of their families, the City of Irvine is hosting two Veterans Day events:

IRVINE, CA (October 30, 2015): Join the City of Irvine and the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee in brightening the season for military families. The Holiday Toy Drive, ongoing through Dec. 11, benefits the families of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion. Help bring joy to these families during the holidays by donating an unwrapped gift suitable for infants or children up to age 12.
