Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

IRVINE, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injury and deaths and raising awareness about the dangers caused by alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the area of Jeffrey Road and Alton Parkway.

City of Irvine Food Drive

IRVINE, CA (February 10, 2015):  The City of Irvine, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, will host “Irvine Has Heart,” a community food drive, from February 14 through March 31 to help families and seniors in need. The goal of the drive is to collect 3,500 pounds of canned food items.

Fatal Traffic Collision

IRVINE, CA – A male pedestrian has died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle while lying in the roadway. 

At approximately 12:10 a.m. today, Jan. 29, 2015, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The collision occurred on Alton Parkway near the Lake Road intersection.

Man Arrested for Manslaughter Following Single-Vehicle Collision

IRVINE, CA – A male driver is in custody following a single-vehicle traffic collision, in which his passenger was killed. Colin Selsted, 27, Irvine, has been arrested on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony driving under the influence.

At approximately 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2015, Selsted was driving a Volkswagen hatchback on Shady Canyon Drive near Cloverfield with a 23-year-old female passenger, Devon Williams, in his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway before overturning and coming to rest in a landscaped area on the side of the road.

Community Invited to Irvine Police Open House
