City of Irvine Sister Cities

Since its establishment in 1989, the City of Irvine’s Sister Cities Program has strengthened Irvine’s global ties through cultural and educational exchange, international engagement, and opportunities for economic collaboration. The program connects Irvine with international partners and promotes greater understanding across cultures.

A sister city is an officially recognized, long-term partnership between communities in different countries. Sister city relationships encourage people-to-people connections and provide a framework for communities to exchange ideas, share experiences, and pursue opportunities of mutual interest.

City of Irvine Friendship Cities

Irvine’s Friendship Cities Program provides an additional avenue for establishing international connections, with an emphasis on communication, information sharing, and the exchange of ideas.
