Irvine Studio Arts Festival

IRVINE, CA (May 18, 2015): The Irvine Fine Arts Center will host the 21st annual Studio Arts Festival on Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The juried Festival will showcase more than 100 Southern California artists and their original works of art in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, painting, photography, fiber and glass.

The Festival will also feature music, art demonstrations and food, including ice cream sundaes served in handmade collectible ceramic bowls.

Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

IRVINE, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injury and deaths and raising awareness about the dangers caused by alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted tomorrow, Saturday, May 23, 2015, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the area of northbound Jeffrey Road at Irvine Center Drive.

Irvine Police Attempting to Identify Suspect

Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is investigating a case and attempting to identify a suspect who grabbed a woman in an apartment complex parking lot.

At approximately 10:15 p.m., on May 21, 2015, a 20-year-old woman parked her vehicle in the parking lot of San Remo Villa Apartments. As the victim retrieved items from her trunk, she was approached from behind by a male suspect, who grabbed her around her mouth and pulled her backwards several feet. The victim screamed and was able to break free, and the suspect fled the scene.

Suspect Arrested for Copper Wire Theft

IRVINE, CA – A suspect has been arrested for stealing copper wire from light posts in Irvine. Armando Arroyo, 38, was arrested on charges of grand theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. yesterday, April 27, 2015, a City of Irvine landscape contractor observed two subjects on bicycles stealing copper wire from light posts along the bike path between Jeffrey Road and Sand Canyon Avenue on the south side of I-405.
