On Wednesday, June 24, Irvine City Manager John Russo, in his capacity as Director of Emergency Services, released an amended Executive Order requiring the use of face coverings.
This amendment aligns with new guidance from the California Department of Health.

At its June 23 meeting, the Irvine City Council reconfirmed the two-tier rental assistance and lease cancellation assistance program approved at the last meeting. The entire $2 million program will now be funded by the one-time federal CARES Act dollars expected to be appropriated by the State to cities within days. The City Council also authorized the program to be available to students listed as dependents on their parents’ tax returns, as well as to multiple renters residing at same address.

Volunteers have raised funds and put together 110 Welcome Home bags for Marines who recently returned to Camp Pendleton. During stay-at-home orders for COVID-19, Marines are immediately put into a 14-day quarantine upon their return from deployment.

In an effort to mitigate the financial impact of COVID-19, the City of Irvine awarded Small Business Support Program grants to 511 businesses. The one-time grants of up to $10,000 were distributed to businesses located in the County’s 3rd Supervisorial District with CARES Act funding.
