City of Irvine to Modify and Reopen Recreation Services and Programs

The City of Irvine, in keeping with evolving state and county guidance, will modify or re-open many recreation services and programs. Following recently released guidance from the California Department of Public Health, the City has scheduled modified summer camps, will open aquatic centers for limited programs, and will open museum and gallery spaces at the Orange County Great Park.

Orange County Approves Additional Business Reopening on June 19

The Orange County Health Officer, following state guidance, has given approval for additional businesses to open Friday, June 12, including community pools, HOA pools, day camps, gyms, and movie theaters. On June 19, the Orange County Health Officer has also given approval for personal care services to resume business.

5th District Small Business Grant Relief Program

The Small Business Grant Relief Program will support small businesses and community organizations impacted by COVID-19 in Orange County Supervisorial District Five. Grants of up to $10,000 will be available to eligible small businesses and non-profits within the district.

Supervisor Lisa Bartlett serves as Fifth District Supervisor for the County of Orange representing the 650,000 residents in south Orange County.

Fifth District Supervisor Lisa Bartlett will host a Small Business Grant Relief Program webinar on Thursday, June 11 at noon. The Small Business Grant Relief Program will support small businesses and community organizations impacted by COVID-19 in Orange County Supervisorial District Five. Grants of up to $10,000 will be available to eligible small businesses and non-profits within the district. Officials from The County of Orange and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will present information as part of the webinar.

Irvine Animal Care Center Joins ASPCA National Adoption Weekend

The Irvine Animal Care Center is joining shelters and rescues across the country for the ASPCA National Adoption Weekend, a collective effort to encourage the public to safely #AdoptFromHome. When you adopt a pet by appointment June 5–7, you will receive a new adopter kit from PetSmart or Petco, which includes items such as a free bag of pet food and valuable coupons. All adopters will also receive a free Healthy Start exam from VCA Animal Hospitals and up to $250 to treat any minor illness within the first 14 days of their adoption.

Mayor Christina L. Shea Community Update - May 31, 2020

Yesterday, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) became aware of a planned protest scheduled to take place this afternoon at Irvine City Hall in response to the tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Irvine Police Chief Mike Hamel and IPD immediately began planning for this event with the goal of providing a safe environment for all involved.

I want to report that approximately 125 protesters were at our City Hall today exercising their First Amendment rights.
