The City of Irvine invites residents to celebrate America 250 throughout July with a lineup of free, family-friendly programs designed to highlight American history and community connection.
Throughout July, programs will be held at Irvine Public Library locations, community centers, parks, and the Irvine Civic Center, offering residents of all ages opportunities to take part in hands-on activities, themed storytimes, historical learning experiences, outdoor challenges, and interactive programs that explore moments and ideas that helped shape the nation.
Highlights of America 250 Programming
Festivities kick off June 30 with a patriotic bingo event at Lakeview Senior Center, followed by a full month of citywide programming that brings history to life through creative, educational, and outdoor experiences.
Highlights include America’s Potluck, a nationwide invitation for neighbors, families, and friends to gather over a shared meal; Wilderness Access Day: Frontiers & Freedom Photo Opportunity at Bommer Canyon Preserve; hands-on activities such as Quill Feather Pen and Early American Life: Textile Weaving; library storytimes and crafts; and community scavenger hunts.
Ongoing Citywide Experiences
USA Birthday Scavenger Hunt at Heritage Park, Katie Wheeler, and University Park Libraries, where participants can search for hidden items inspired by the beauty of the United States and earn a prize.
Park & Recreation Month Passport Challenge at local community parks, encouraging residents to explore Irvine parks and facilities for a chance to receive a commemorative America 250 pin, while supplies last.
America 250 Exhibition at the Irvine Civic Center, featuring educational displays on the Declaration of Independence and key moments that shaped the nation’s history.
Field of Valor at the Irvine Civic Center Lawn, expanded this year to feature 250 flags honoring active-duty service members and veterans whose service helped safeguard the nation’s freedom.
