Juan Manuel Gomez: En Lo Profundo / In the Deep
November 14–January 23, 2027
Opening Reception: November 14, 2–4 p.m.
Featuring new and reworked mixed-media sculptures, Juan Manuel Gomez’s solo presentation En Lo Profundo / In the Deep invites viewers to imagine how the physical and symbolic act of deconstruction can help us meet our most challenging and uncertain moments. The artist presents a collection of sculptures made from materials associated with stability and utilitarianism, such as industrially processed metals and heavy-duty plastics. They suggest environments that offer protection, fortification, and envelopment, while simultaneously reminding us of the precarity of modern life. Drawing on the duality of care and fragility, Gomez’s works propose unconventionally fruitful visions of the refuge found in creative acts that are necessary for survival in an increasingly hard climate.

Opening Reception: November 14, 2–4 p.m.
Rooted in the spirit of collective celebration and inspired by the nation’s recent 250th anniversary, the exhibition, All Together!, champions the role of communal revelry and placemaking across Orange County. It features work by artists from a range of industries including animation, design, film, fine art, gaming, illustration, photography, television, and more that reflect on the ways that celebratory acts mark time, place, and memory. Co-curated with public historian Cynthia Castaneda, the exhibition also explores the symbiotic relationship between festivity and resilience as seen among the region’s diverse cultural and artistic communities. From the national Bicentennial in 1976 to local city anniversaries and cultural festivals, the images and artworks presented in the exhibition capture parades, parties, performances, and everyday scenes of participation. All Together! looks to the past and future to consider how notions of heritage, identity, self-expression, and belonging are established and reimagined via communal jubilation.

Exhibition Proposals
All locations accept exhibition proposals (Open in new window), which are reviewed on an annual basis. The exhibition schedule is set 12–24 months or more in advance of exhibition dates. Exhibitions, parking, and receptions are free and open to the public.
The City accepts community initiated public art proposals on a rolling basis. The goal of this program is to support community and/or artist-led projects that happen in city-owned parks and facilities. All proposed projects must be self-funded. Community public art projects can include, but are not limited to murals, two-dimensional works, artist designed functional art, and free-standing sculptures.
