Irvine Children’s Fund Awarded Grants from City of Irvine and Federal Community Development Block Grant Program

On April 27 the Irvine Children’s Fund (ICF) was awarded more than a million dollars by the Irvine City Council through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Public Service, and Coronavirus Grant programs.

The Irvine City Council awarded a $60,389 CDBG Public Service grant to ICF to fund before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families from Irvine. In addition, the Council awarded a one time, 3-year grant of $979,821 to help families negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Irvine Police Department to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Community members can drop off unwanted medications at three designated locations in the City of Irvine. This free service, which allows the public to anonymously discard prescription medications, addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. The participating sites are:

As such, the City of Irvine is taking steps to ensure we embrace and celebrate diversity in all aspects of our community and foster an environment that is inclusive of all cultures, backgrounds, races, and ethnicities.

Purpose:

City of Irvine Ranks Second in the Top 25 Geographic Information System Programs in North America through the 2020 Geospatial Maturity Index Survey

The City of Irvine was ranked second by PSD Citywide in the top 25 most mature public sector Geographic Information System (GIS) programs in North America. The City is the first U.S. participant to earn a spot in the top three GIS programs in the history of the survey.

PSD Citywide empowers governments of all sizes with infrastructure asset management, budgeting, and GIS solutions through their web-based software. PSD created the Geospatial Maturity Index (GMI) to assist with GIS program development, capacity building, and innovation in public sector organizations.
