The HORIBA Institute for Mobility and Connectivity² (HIMaC²) in the UCI Samueli School of Engineering has been awarded a $6M grant to establish a Public Road Network Platform for the development, evaluation, and deployment of emerging and future connected and autonomous vehicle technologies. The grant, awarded by the Vehicle Technology Office of the U.S.

In a successful effort to prepare for and mitigate against wildfires, the City of Irvine has implemented an updated all-hazard evacuation map and a unique Hi/Lo siren to alert residents of the need to evacuate during an emergency. The Irvine Police Department released a Public Safety Announcement (PSA) video in multiple languages on Thursday, August 26, 2021, to inform the public about the new siren.

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is joining the celebration for National Night Out. This annual tradition celebrated across the country will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event offers a chance for neighbors to interact with each other and police personnel, as well as explore police vehicles and learn important crime prevention tips. 

The Irvine Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying the driver of a black Jaguar XJ who struck and seriously injured a pedestrian in a crosswalk.  

Following a vehicle pursuit, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested a man and woman connected to the theft of a catalytic converter. 

IRVINE, Calif. (August 20, 2021): It has come to the attention of the City of Irvine that a lawsuit has been filed against it, alleging sexual abuse by a former, and now deceased, sergeant against a member of the Explorers Program in or about 1984-1986. The deceased sergeant separated from the Irvine Police Department over 30 years ago and did not engage in any activities with the City of Irvine, the Irvine Police Department, or the Explorer’s Program after 1987. 

City of Irvine Environmental Programs would like to invite residents to participate in the Cool City Challenge, which is a climate moonshot strategy to get the City of Irvine to carbon neutrality by 2030. This initiative, developed by the Empowerment Institute, lays out a strategy for cities to reach community-wide and inclusive sustainability. In this model, the City of Irvine will work with community Team Leaders, who will create “Cool Blocks” within their sphere of influence.
