Irvine Police Arrested a Man Following a Suspected Hate-Motivated Assault

Irvine, Calif. (July 24, 2025) – A man suspected of committing a hate-motivated assault during a road rage incident has been taken into custody.

On Tuesday, around 9:30 am, the victim was driving southbound on Sand Canyon Avenue near the Interstate 5 Freeway when he encountered Robert Leon Tackett, 54, from Irvine, yelling at a Hispanic truck driver.

Help Shape the Future of Heritage Community Park

The City of Irvine invites the community to help shape the future of Heritage Community Park by participating in a series of workshops beginning this month.

The first workshops took place Monday, July 28, and Thursday, August 21, and offered a unique opportunity to explore the park during a walking tour and interactive discussion. Participants joined facilitated group tours and shared ideas and feedback to help guide future park priorities.
