A long-standing summer tradition, Symphony in the Cities, brings thousands of people together to enjoy a variety of popular classics, pop tunes, and patriotic songs at a local park each year. This year’s concert will be held at Mike Ward Community Park — Woodbridge. Pre-concert, family-friendly activities begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the concert beginning at 7 p.m.

Great Park Board Votes to Enter into Negotiations with Swyft Cities

At its April 22 meeting, the Great Park Board authorized City staff to enter into negotiations with Swyft Cities for an initial operating segment of the Whoosh aerial transport system at the Great Park in Irvine. This includes a donation from Swyft Cities that would accelerate its installation and operation. The Board’s approval is a significant step toward increased mobility, connectivity, and overall visitor experience at the Great Park.

Get Ready to Serve, Rally, and Smash

Eight pickleball courts are coming to Mike Ward Community Park — Woodbridge as the City works to meet growing demand for the sport. Along with the courts, four shade structures, site lighting improvements, and upgrades to the restroom facility are being completed.

The project also includes the installation of picnic tables, benches, drinking fountains, and various landscape and irrigation enhancements at the park. It is expected to be complete in spring 2026.

Take Part in the Drive to Recycle Saturday, April 26

In honor of Earth Month, the City of Irvine and the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) are teaming up with Ware Disposal, WM, and SEMCO to host Drive to Recycle Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m. to noon at the Great Park Parking Lot 2. 

This high-energy, family-friendly event invites the community to collect and bring recyclable materials for a chance to win cash and prizes for IUSD schools. This fun challenge encourages environmental responsibility and local school initiatives through collaborative community support.
