Movies on the Lawn Returns to the Great Park

The Orange County Great Park’s annual summer tradition returns Friday, June 22, when the Movies on the Lawn series kicks off.

The community is invited to a series of seven free family-friendly movies; Flashback Friday films play at the Palm Court and Blockbuster Saturday movies will be screened on the Terraced Lawn. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic, or purchase items from gourmet food trucks. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. to get a seat and enjoy food from food trucks. Irvine’s Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts Series

The City of Irvine’s annual summer tradition returns on Sunday, July 8, when the Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts kick off at Mike Ward Community Park – Woodbridge.

The community is invited to a series of six free family-friendly concerts out in the park covering a variety of musical tastes — from modern country and classic rock to classical symphony and ’80s new wave. Festivities include a children’s play area and gourmet food trucks.

Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

Irvine, Calif. (June 21, 2018) –  The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted Friday, June 22, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Alton Parkway and Culver Drive.

Great Park Fields Open

Irvine, Calif. (June 19, 2018): Another 48 acres of amenities are now open at the Orange County Great Park’s Sports Complex. Opened to the community on June 15 were six new synthetic soccer/lacrosse fields; a natural turf flex field that can accommodate four additional soccer fields; four basketball courts; and a restroom and parking lots. They add to the mix of 53 acres that opened in August 2017 as part of the developing Sports Complex that enhances the Great Park’s 1,300 acres.

Irvine Disaster Emergency Communications Team to Participate in Annual Field Day

Irvine, Calif. (June 14, 2018) – See amateur radio operators in action as the Irvine Disaster Emergency Communications (IDEC) team takes part in the American Radio Relay League 2018 Field Day. This annual event includes emergency preparedness demonstrations, tours of the IDEC and City of Irvine communications vehicles, and information about radio volunteer opportunities. Attendees will also have a chance to speak to ham radio operators from around the world.
