The City of Irvine hosted three community budget meetings March 21-23 to discuss the upcoming fiscal year 2023-25 budget. Staff from the City's Administrative Services Department presented an overview of the budget process through presentations and dialogue in order to answer budget questions and gain insight into identifying community priorities.

Irvine Animal Care Center 2023 Virtual 5K Supports Animals in Need
Run or walk the Virtual 5K in April, and receive an exclusive medal while helping adoptable animals.

IRVINE, Calif. (March 15, 2023): The Irvine Animal Care Center invites all runners, walkers, and animal-lovers to support animals in need during its 2023 Virtual 5K throughout the month of April. Participants can self-time their pace and complete the Virtual 5K at any location April 1–30.

The City of Irvine and UCI Health announced an agreement for the healthcare provider to become the presenting partner of world-class sports complex that exists at Irvine’s Great Park. In addition to annual funding, UCI Health will provide public health and wellness events, education, strategic guidance to the City on health-related initiatives, and public engagement events such as blood drives and vaccinations.

Following a national recruitment, the City of Irvine has named Christopher Slama as Director of Community Services and Dena Diggins as Deputy Director of Community Services.

Slama comes to Irvine from the City of Huntington Beach, where he has held several key leadership positions, most recently serving as Director of Community and Library Services. As director, he led a department of 62 full-time and 300 part-time staff, while overseeing a full-service parks and recreation operation, along with a well-regarded library department. 

On March 7, Mayor Farrah N. Khan delivered her State of the City Address at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Topics included a review of 2022 accomplishments, as well as the vision for 2023 and beyond as one of the top ten fastest growing cities in the nation.
