The City of Irvine, in partnership with the nonprofit OC Goes Solar, is excited to announce the launch of Solarize Irvine. This program helps Irvine residents who are interested in learning about new ways to support the City’s ambitious goal of carbon neutrality, and provides access to group pricing discounts for solar power and battery storage. Solarize Irvine is also working to advance equity and access to solar energy through a focus on getting low-income affordable housing development residents access to state subsidized clean energy resources.

The City of Irvine kicked off the development of its first Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) in June 2021. By setting ambitious but achievable emissions reduction targets and laying out thoughtfully planned greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction and climate adaptation measures, the CAAP will lay a pathway to achieving the City's climate goals. The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC) and the City of Irvine will host a book launch celebration for Chinese-Americans in Irvine 1971–2021. The free event will take place Wednesday, May 4, at City Hall. The reception will begin at 5 p.m., and the formal program will start at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber.

Earth Day is April 22, and the City of Irvine invites residents and businesses to celebrate with various activities, events, and calls-to-action during the month of April and beyond.

Visit Quail Hill Community Center Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and enjoy a guided hike, compost demo, and interactive activities offered in partnership with Irvine Ranch Conservancy. The free Earth Day event includes guided hikes at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.; registration required on-site, limited space available. At noon, enjoy a compost demonstration.

Support expecting families from Irvine's adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion! Donate baby clothes, swaddle blankets, and newborn toiletries to the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee Baby Gift Drive. All donations go to families at Camp Pendleton.

Irvine Senior Services will host free Open House events Wednesday, April 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. to give residents and community members a look at programs and services offered at three dedicated senior centers in Irvine.

Visitors are invited to view program demonstrations, take home flyers with information about upcoming classes and recreational activities, visit the senior resources table, learn about transportation services, and sign up for volunteer opportunities to provide and transport meals to seniors. Participants can sample free fitness classes for Zumba, boxing, and more.

Mayor Farrah N. Khan has joined mayors across the country for the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation by asking residents and businesses to make a long-term commitment to manage water resources more wisely.
