Marc Joffe, Director for the California Policy Center, which oversees the California Transparency Project, has released a nationwide study that places Irvine No. 1 among major cities in fiscal strength.
The Fiscal Health Index, published in The Fiscal Times, ranks 116 American cities with a population of more than 200,000. Irvine received a perfect 100 score.
Five factors were used to rank cities:
• The ratio of a city’s general fund balance to its expenditures;

IPD Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision
Irvine, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2017) -- The Irvine Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Saturday, January 14 at the intersection of Lake Forest and Romano in Irvine.
Police responded to Hoag hospital in Irvine around 5:15 p.m. Saturday after hospital officials reported that a 4-year-old boy was brought in with life-threatening injuries.

Irvine Police Arrest Woman for Peddling Sick Puppies
Irvine, Calif. – The Irvine Police Department on Wednesday arrested Megan Ann Hoechstetter on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to crimes against animals. Hoechstetter was arrested after selling a sick puppy that died a week after it was purchased by an Irvine family. Nineteen puppies were found in her possession.
