Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial - Expansion Groundbreaking

The Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial was dedicated in 2010 as the first permanent memorial to honor every American fallen service member in Afghanistan and Iraq for their sacrifice in service to our country. The groundbreaking expansion project will include the extension of the plaza to include an additional pedestal with history of the Memorial and two benches.

Irvine Police Find Rings Stolen by Jeweler

Irvine, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2017) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has located a number of items a jeweler stole from his clients. Among the items recovered is an heirloom, 2-carat platinum diamond ring that had been passed down for generations.

Super Pet Adoption Event

The City of Irvine Animal Care Center will host its 11th annual Super Pet Adoption event on Sunday, June 4 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. More than 40 pet rescue groups and animal shelters will bring some 600 homeless dogs, cats, rabbits and small animals for adoption. Click here for more information. 

Irvine Child Care Project Seeks Licensed Nonprofit Child Care Providers

The Irvine Child Care Project, a joint power authority between the Irvine Unified School District and the City of Irvine, is requesting proposals from licensed nonprofit child care providers interested in operating a child care program at Eastwood Village Elementary School beginning Aug. 24, 2017.

The selected provider will operate a program providing child care services for children from kindergarten through sixth grade, utilizing leased space from the Irvine Child Care Project. The program would serve between 70-100 children daily (105 maximum licensed capacity).

Memorial Day Ceremony

The City of Irvine will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden. Attendees will have the opportunity to memorialize our troop’s sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance to be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards will also be available for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion.

Memorial Day is a time of remembrance for Americans to honor those who have given their lives while defending our nation. In partnership with the Northwood Memorial Committee, a special Dedication Ceremony of the expansion of the Memorial will be held at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial. Program will include presentations by Gold Star families. Please bring a lawn chair or blankets for seating.

The Irvine Fine Arts Center will host the 23rd annual Studio Arts Festival. The juried festival will showcase more than 85 Southern California artists and their original works of art in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, painting, photography, fiber and glass. The festival will also feature music, art demonstrations and food, including ice cream sundaes served in handmade collectible ceramic bowls. Admission and parking are free.
