Southern California Edison working to restore power to most overnight

Power outage still impacting Irvine; residents asked to conserve energy

Irvine, Calif. (Aug. 3, 2019) – A power outage caused by an electrical fire at a power substation at Jamboree and Michelson on Friday evening continues to impact Irvine residents. Southern California Edison reports just under 12,000 customers are still without power. No estimate has been provided by SCE as to when power will be restored.

Northwood Community Park Offers Care and Reception

The Care and Reception facility set up due to the power outage has been moved to Northwood Community Park, 4531 Bryan Ave. Hours are 9 a.m. to midnight. All City of Irvine community centers are cooling centers

Pets are welcome at the Care and Reception center at Northwood Community Park. Pet owners should bring food, water and supplies for their pets. Dogs on leashes; other pets in carriers.

The City of Irvine invites the community to Rancho Senior Center for its 11th annual Senior Fitness Expo from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, August 30. This free event geared toward adults 50 and older features health screenings, educational presentations, and a wide variety of the latest health and fitness exhibitors.

Guests will learn how to improve their well-being through fitness demonstrations including yoga, balance and stretching, circuit training, and more. The Senior Fitness Expo will also feature an opportunity drawing.
