Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

IRVINE, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the Department’s continued commitment to reducing injury and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted tomorrow, Friday, July 22, 2016, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the area of Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive.

The City is embarking on a comprehensive update of its General Plan, which is a “master plan” for development. Residents are encouraged to participate in “Irvine 2035 – Our Future,” the General Plan update that will shape planning over the next 20 years.

A free community workshop will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Irvine Civic Center.

A second workshop will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Lakeview Senior Center, 20 Lake Road, Irvine.

Man Arrested for Irvine Residential Burglary Series

Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested a man for a series of residential burglaries. Willy San, 25, of Long Beach, was taken into custody for 14 residential burglaries and two attempted residential burglaries.

On May 13, 2016, an Irvine woman received a knock on her front door from an unknown man. When she opened the door, the suspect asked for a male who did not live at the residence and then quickly left. The woman believed the behavior to be suspicious and called IPD.

Farmers Market Moves to New Great Park Location

The Certified Organic Farmers Market at the Orange County Great Park is moving to a new location inside the Park on Sunday, July 17.

The new site positions the Farmers Market adjacent to the Palm Court, a convenient spot near other amenities including the Great Park Balloon and Carousel.  

The Farmers Market is held every Sunday, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can choose from an abundance of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables. A selection of gourmet food trucks rounds out the experience.

Irvine Police Arrest Man Following Burglary-In-Progress Report

Irvine, CA – The Irvine Police Department has arrested a man for burglarizing an electronic repair business. William Cortez, 24, of Santa Ana, was taken into custody on charges of commercial burglary and vandalism.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. today, July 12, 2016, officers responded to an electronic repair business on Sky Park Circle regarding a burglary in progress.  The owner called police after watching remote video and observing someone in his business.
