Enjoy Movies on the Lawn at the Great Park this Summer

The Orange County Great Park’s annual summer tradition returns Friday, June 22, when the Movies on the Lawn series kicks off.

The community is invited to a series of seven free family-friendly movies; Flashback Friday films play at the Palm Court and Blockbuster Saturday movies will be screened on the Terraced Lawn. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic, or purchase items from gourmet food trucks. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. to get a seat and enjoy food from food trucks. In conjunction with Imagination Celebration, S.T.E.A.M. Drawing engages participants in fun and hands-on drawing activities using symbols, motifs and images from subjects such as science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). Participants are encouraged to unleash their creativity and use drawing to bridge the gap between diverse perspectives and ideas. Participants will activate their creative self, broaden observational skills, enhance drawing skills, expand visual vocabulary, excel collaboration and create artworks that empower all.

Go behind the scenes of artist Eric Stoner's multimedia collage process and learn the wide variety of techniques and materials the artist employs in his work. Participants will be guided through the process of storytelling through collage and illustrations, and take home a composition reflecting their own personal story. Ages 18+. $59.

Join New Adult Sand Volleyball Leagues at the Great Park

The Orange County Great Park is now offering sand volleyball leagues led by instructor and professional competitor Matt Taylor. Grab your fellow volleyball-enthusiasts and join the Great Park for some under-the-lights competition weeknights this summer. King and Queen of the Court Doubles and Coed Shuffle 4's arrive at the Great Park Sports Complex's sand volleyball courts beginning June 19.

Irvine Police Department Arrests Violin Teacher Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Irvine, Calif. (May 16, 2018) – The Irvine Police Department has arrested a violin teacher who is accused of felony sexual misconduct with a child from 2005-2007. Peter Kwon, 32, was taken into custody Wednesday at 11:55 a.m. outside his Irvine home.
