In honor of Harvey Milk Day and June Pride Month, the City of Irvine will host its third annual Pride in Irvine event. Come stand together Wednesday, May 22, 5–7 p.m., at the Irvine Civic Center Piazza, as the City raises the Progress Flag in front of City Hall in recognition and support of our LGBTQIA+ community.
The University of California, Irvine, is partnering with the City of Irvine to host City of Irvine Day at Anteater Ballpark on May 3. Residents are invited to watch the UCI baseball team take on the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, while celebrating the relationship between the City and the university.
Building Safety month was established by the International Code Council (ICC) to raise awareness about both the importance of safe buildings, as well as the role of the new building codes in ensuring their ability to improve public health, provide protection from natural disasters and prevent property damage.
The 2025 ICC campaign theme is “Game On”, encourages all city stakeholders to learn and practice building safety. This campaign marks the 45th edition of Building and Safety month.
OC Waste & Recycling (OCWR) is hosting a Community Compost Giveaway Saturday, May 4, 7:30 a.m.–noon.
OCWR will be distributing ready-to-use compost free of charge at all three county greeneries. At Bee Canyon Greenery and Capistrano Greenery, residents are encouraged to bring their own containers or heavy-duty yard waste bags and a shovel to load the compost. At Valencia Greenery, pre-filled bags of compost will be distributed, with each household limited to four bags, while supplies last.
After an extensive national search, City Manager Oliver C. Chi named Stephanie Frady as the new Director of Community Development. This selection marks the culmination of a rigorous recruitment and comprehensive review process.
Stephanie has been an integral part of the Irvine community since joining the Community Development Department in 2013. Prior to this role, she held numerous key positions, including Associate, Senior, and Principal Planner, Planning Administrator, and Manager of Current Planning.
The Cal State University Fullerton Small Business Development Center is hosting the SBDC Small Business Clinic, a program offered in collaboration with the City of Irvine for Irvine-based businesses, with the goal of bringing business assistance and support to small business owners into the community.
