Emergency Preparedness Meeting

The Irvine Police Department Emergency Management team will host a neighborhood meeting as part of its “Prepare Irvine” campaign. Topics covered include how to be prepared in the event of a natural disaster such as a wildfire in the area.

The meeting will be held Thursday, March 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Turtle Rock Community Center at Turtle Rock Community Park, 1 Sunnyhill. No RSVP is necessary to attend this free community forum.

Golden Parks: Huell Howser Exhibit Opens March 4

The Orange County Great Park announces the opening of its latest art exhibition, Golden Parks: Huell Howser. The exhibit runs Sunday, March 4-Sunday, May 13, with an exhibition opening on Sunday, March 4, 1-3 p.m. Exhibit, opening and parking are free and open to the public.

Virtual 5K in April Supports Animals in Need

The Irvine Animal Care Center is inviting all runners, walkers and animal-lovers to take part in its inaugural Virtual 5K April 1-30 to support animals in need. The center’s Virtual 5K can be completed at any location you choose throughout the month of April, can be done at your own pace and is timed yourself.

Irvine, Calif.  (Feb. 19, 2018) – An Irvine woman who was walking in the Woodbridge neighborhood Sunday night died after being struck by a car. Her adult son was also injured.

Irvine Police Search for Man Who Went Missing Sunday

Irvine, Calif. (Feb. 19, 2018) – The Irvine Police Department is searching for Tun Yang Ching, 80, who went missing outside the 99 Ranch Market at 15333 Culver Drive on Sunday at approximately 4 p.m.

Ching suffers from dementia. He has no cellphone, money or ID with him. He speaks Mandarin.

Ching is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds; he has gray/brown hair. He was last seen wearing a red zip-up long sleeve shirt and black pants with a green stripe.

Irvine Police Department Arrests Suspect in Purse Snatching

Irvine, Calif. (Feb. 15, 2018) – Irvine Police Department detectives on Thursday arrested the suspect in a purse snatching that turned violent a week before.

Jennifer Nicole Burner, 34, was arrested in Santa Ana, where she resides. Irvine Police Department detectives identified Burner thanks to an anonymous tip from the public that came in after media coverage highlighting the crime.

Irvine Fine Arts Center Seeking Exhibitors for Studio Arts Festival

The Irvine Fine Arts Center is seeking exhibitors for its 2018 Studio Arts Festival, occurring Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Studio Arts Festival showcases Southern California artists and their original works of art for purchase in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, painting, photography, fiber and glass.

Interested artists can learn more and fill out an application at cityofirvine.org/studioartsfestival. Applications are due Thursday, March 1.
