Irvine Police Arrest Suspect for Attempted Robbery in McDonald's Parking Lot

Irvine, Calif. (May 1, 2017) – The Irvine Police Department on Thursday arrested Ziwen Li, 30, of Arcadia on charges of attempted robbery and criminal threats after he tried to steal $50,000 in cash from a victim in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant in the Orchard Hills neighborhood.

Irvine Global Village Festival

Super Swim Lesson

Kick off summer in the pool with the Irvine Super Swim Lesson. Adults and children of all swimming abilities are invited to participate in Irvine’s largest group swim lesson in an effort to raise awareness for drowning prevention. Arrive at 5:30 p.m. to sign up for the free, on-site lesson starting at 6 p.m., then stay for recreation swim that includes a water slide, giant inflatable slide and diving boards. At dusk stay and watch the movie "Sing" play on the big screen. Lifeguards will be on duty.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Community members can drive up and drop off unwanted medications at two designated locations in the City of Irvine. This free service, which allows the public to anonymously discard prescription medications, addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. The participating sites are:
