Irvine Police Department Receives Grant for Special Traffic Enforcement and Crash Prevention

Irvine, Calif. (Oct. 18, 2017) – The Irvine Police Department has been awarded a $510,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long program of special enforcement and public awareness efforts to prevent traffic-related deaths and injuries. The Irvine Police Department will use the funding as part of the City’s ongoing commitment to keeping our roadways safe and improving the quality of life through both enforcement and education.

Irvine Sports Committee Seeks Applicants for Two Positions

The City of Irvine is accepting applications to fill two volunteer member-at-large vacancies on the Irvine Sports Committee. The Committee is composed of representatives from Irvine’s youth sports organizations and provides the City Council and the Community Services Commission with input and feedback on policies, programs, facilities and the needs of the Irvine youth sports community.

While most Committee members represent a specific program and sport, members-at-large are selected through a public recruitment process to provide general perspective and guidance.

Irvine City Manager Sean Joyce Announces Retirement

Longtime Irvine City Manager Sean Joyce announced today his plan to retire in February 2018. 

Joyce, 54, has served as Irvine City Manager since 2005. He has worked for four California cities, also serving as City Manager in Sierra Madre and South Pasadena. This month is his 30-year anniversary in public service. The City Council will determine the selection process for his replacement.

Irvine Police Department to Raise Money for Special Olympics

Irvine, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2017) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is proud to partner once again with Special Olympics Southern California for a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser. On Oct. 19 from 5 to 9 p.m., Irvine Police personnel will join Special Olympics athletes at Red Robin in the Irvine Spectrum Center to serve customers their meals. All tips raised will go directly to Special Olympics Southern California.

Irvine Police Arrest Five Suspects After String of Residential Burglaries

Irvine, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2017) – Five suspects are in custody following a string of residential burglaries that led to an extensive search in an Irvine neighborhood on Wednesday.

Verasm Kevin Eam, 22, Ferdinand Morales Franco, 32, Tracy Nan, 32, and Kevin Paul Williams, 30, all of Long Beach, were arrested Wednesday after committing four residential burglaries in the Northwood Pointe neighborhood. Terry Nguyen Huynh, 21, of Newport Beach is charged with being an accessory to the crimes.
