Man Who Died in Traffic Collision Identified

Irvine, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2018) –The man who died Monday in a traffic collision at San Remo and Paseo Westpark in Irvine has been identified. Colin Halleland, 18, of Irvine was the driver of a motorcycle involved in the collision. Halleland was a student at Orange Coast College.

Man Dies in Traffic Collision

Irvine, Calif.  (Feb. 5, 2018) – A man was killed Monday in a traffic collision at San Remo and Paseo Westpark in Irvine.

At 5:45 p.m., Irvine Police Department officers and members of the Orange County Fire Authority responded to a report of a traffic collision at the location. The male driver of a motorcycle was found unresponsive. Despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of a sedan involved in the accident was uninjured.

Irvine Child Care Project Seeks Licensed Nonprofit Child Care Providers

The Irvine Child Care Project, a joint power authority between the City of Irvine and Irvine Unified School District, is requesting proposals from licensed nonprofit child care providers interested in operating a child care program at Cadence Park School beginning Aug. 23, 2018.

The selected provider will operate a program providing child care services for children from kindergarten through sixth grade, utilizing leased space from the Irvine Child Care Project. The program would serve between 80 and 135 children daily (anticipated maximum licensed capacity of 120).

Irvine Fine Arts Center Hosts Kaleidoscope on Feb. 17

Join the City of Irvine Fine Arts Center for its second annual Kaleidoscope: A Family Art Experience on Saturday, Feb. 17, 10 a.m.-noon. The family-friendly event features creative activities including puppet and kaleidoscope making, and two special performances by the renowned Bob Baker Marionette Theater at 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

City of Irvine Senior Services is seeking Meals on Wheels volunteers to prepare and deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors in our community. Volunteers assist older adults in maintaining their independence by providing healthy, delicious meals to those who might otherwise be unable to prepare food for themselves. Current volunteer openings include meal delivery drivers and kitchen assistants.

Irvine Police Department Arrests Man in Sexual Battery Cases Involving Joggers

Irvine, Calif. (Jan. 24, 2018) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has made an arrest in a string of sexual battery cases that occurred in recent months the City. The suspect in these cases groped women who were out jogging. In one high-profile case, the suspect attacked a jogger in the Woodbury neighborhood, throwing her to the ground and touching her in a sexual manner before her screams caused him to flee.

Irvine’s State of the City Address Set for Feb. 27

The public is invited to attend as Irvine Mayor Donald P. Wagner delivers his State of the City Address on Feb. 27 in the Council Chamber at the Irvine Civic Center. The event begins with a free, public reception at 5 p.m., followed by the Mayor’s address at 6 p.m.

The address will highlight accomplishments of the past year, as well as look to what’s ahead in 2018. 

No RSVP is necessary to attend. The Civic Center is located at 1 Civic Center Drive. Interview opportunities are available after the speech.
