Explore which plants provide a habitat for native wildlife, how to plant and care for any size garden or container and what to expect throughout the seasons of the year.  Then, sit back and enjoy communing with nature.

Workshops are conducted at the Great Park Farm + Food Lab and developed in cooperation with University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Orange County. Drop-ins welcome. Registration is encouraged.

Learn the lifecycle of a monarch butterfly from eggs to butterflies, observe monarchs in the garden, and discover the threats that monarchs and other beneficial insects are facing today. Do your part by building your own “bug hotel” for beneficial insects. 

Participants may bring their own large containers or naturally found objects to create their project.

Workshops begin at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., and are weather permitting.

Motorcyclist killed in traffic collision in Irvine

Irvine, Calif. (Jan. 24, 2017) -- The Irvine Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Jeronimo Road and Alton Parkway.

Irvine Police Department officers and members of the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene of a traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle shortly after 5 p.m. The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, was unresponsive. Despite efforts to resuscitate the motorcyclist, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was uninjured.
