The Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee, Inc. received a $5,000 COX Charities Community Grant in support of welcome home bags that will contain snacks, toiletries, blankets, pillows & pillowcases for over 200 Marines from the 2nd Battalion 11th Marines (Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marines) returning from overseas deployment and residing in the barracks, in the fall of 2024.

Irvine, Calif. (October 9, 2024) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License checkpoint as part of the Department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, from 7:00 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Culver Drive and Irvine Center Drive. The checkpoint will be clearly marked, and vehicles will be selected for further screening on a pre-set basis to ensure objectivity.
Ballots for the November 5 General Municipal Election have been mailed to all registered voters. This is the City of Irvine’s first district-based election, and Irvine voters will notice some changes on their ballots with this transition.
In March, nearly 60% of Irvine voters approved Measure D, also known as the Council Expansion and Districting charter amendment. The measure expands the City Council from five to seven members and shifts elections from at-large to district-based.
