On March 26, the City of Irvine, Caltrans, and Waste Management are partnering to provide a community cleanup event where residents can dispose of bulky items for no cost. The Dump Day event will be held at the Jeffrey Park and Ride Lot (5595 ½ Walnut Ave.) and is designed to prevent illegal dumping before it happens.

Clean California was established through Gov. Gavin Newsom’s $1.1 billion multiyear cleanup initiative that aims to remove trash and engage communities to restore roadsides and pride in public spaces.

Irvine, Calif. (March 14, 2022) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License checkpoint as part of the Department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted on Friday, March 18, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway.

On March 9, Mayor Farrah N. Khan delivered her State of the City Address at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Topics included a review of 2021 accomplishments, as well as highlights and initiatives for 2022.

On March 9, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra met with City of Irvine officials about our nation’s mental health crisis, and how to strengthen the mental health and crisis care systems in our communities.

Congresswoman Katie Porter, Mayor Farrah N. Khan, Councilmember Tammy Kim, and city staff participated in a roundtable with Secretary Becerra to discuss several innovative City mental health programs, including the Irvine Police Department Mental Health Unit, Be Well OC in Irvine, and the Community Services Youth Outreach and Senior Services programs.

The City of Irvine is pleased to announce the opening of its annual High School Art Exhibition, presented this year as part of the Art at City Hall series. The exhibition will be on display Monday, March 14, through Friday, July 15. An opening reception will be held Wednesday, March 16, 5–7 p.m., at Irvine City Hall.
