City of Irvine Swears in Newly Elected Mayor and City Councilmembers

The City of Irvine swore-in the newly-elected Mayor and City Councilmembers Tuesday, December 8. The ceremony included Mayor Farrah N. Khan, Councilmember Mike Carroll, Councilmember Tammy Kim, and Councilmember Larry Agran.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Khan announced the Council’s first initiatives of 2021.

A task force comprised of local health officials will be developed to help navigate and advise the City Council on COVID-19. This will ensure the safety of Irvine residents is at the forefront of Council decisions.

South Coast AQMD Community Meeting

At the request of the City of Irvine, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (South Coast AQMD) hosted a community meeting on air quality issues related to All American Asphalt (AAA) located in Irvine, CA. South Coast AQMD has been conducting an on-going investigation concerning the AAA hot mix and batch plant. The facility is located within a few miles of multiple residential communities. South Coast AQMD’s investigation seeks to address numerous complaints lodged by local residents, who have identified asphalt and burnt rubber-type odors from the facility.
