'Dorothea Lange’s California: 1935–1942' Opens October 1 at the Great Park Gallery

The City of Irvine is pleased to present the upcoming exhibition Dorothea Lange’s California: 1935–1942 at the Great Park Gallery opening Sunday, October 1, and concluding Sunday, December 31. A free opening reception will be held Sunday, October 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. This exhibition will also feature a two-part acting series, Brain Science: Acting, Writing, History, and Memory!, which brings the subjects portrayed in Lange’s photographs to life through performance art.

Portola Springs Sentinel Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The City of Irvine invites the community to the Portola Springs Sentinel Ribbon Cutting ceremony Thursday, September 14, 3:30–4:15 p.m. at Portola Springs Community Park. The event includes a cultural activity that honors the indigenous people of the ‘U∫rónvanga area (now, Portola Springs) with a formal dedication to follow.

Planning Commissioner and former Irvine City Councilmember Mary Ann Gaido passed away Wednesday, September 6, following a courageous battle with cancer. Mary Ann was a dedicated public servant, community advocate, and cherished friend to many.

In an effort to address the growing blood supply crisis in Orange County, the City of Irvine and UCI Health are partnering together to host a blood drive event Tuesday, September 19, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., at Lakeview Senior Center in Irvine. Donations received will help provide critical care for patients at UCI Medical Center.
